March 2026 Work Party
The work party for 14th March 2026 consisted of 10 volunteers with 67 hours of work being carried out in mostly dry, but cold Spring weather. Due to the efforts of the volunteers, all the planned work was carried out as follows:
- Sub-base laid last month in the dip in the path just south of the Mannachie flood alleviation bund was smoothed over and compacted with quarry dust.
- The choked west side drainage ditch in the Aucheorn Cutting north of the Divie Viaduct was cleaned out by hand and ditch arisings uplifted and removed from the cutting.
Additional Works:
- No extra works were carried out.
Other Points to Note
- Further works required to remove ditch arisings left at the side of the path.
- There was a lot of lifting involved to remove the ditch arisings, which was very back straining for the volunteers, so we need to reduce the loads being lifted by hand. To avoid rick of back injuries, the remaining ditch spoil should be removed mechanically by digger or tractor.
