November 2024 Work Party

The work party for 9th November 2024 consisted of 12 volunteers with about 90 hours of work being carried out. A well attended work party, with another new volunteer coming along. The work party was very successful with all of the planned work at the Huntley’s Cave cutting being either completed or progressed in good weather conditions as follows:

  • The muddy section of path was drained and scraped, and the path surface raised with quarry material and ballast.
  • Clearing of overgrown drainage ditch progressed as far as possible.

Additional unplanned Work:

  • Some sections of old railway drainage pipes were exposed and successfully rodded.

Other points to note:

  • No injuries or near misses were reported.
  • Rockfall and vegetation on the sides of the cutting needs to be removed to allow improved drainages.
