October 2025 Work Party

The work party for 11th Octoberber 2025 consisted of 9 volunteers with nearly 60 hours of work being carried out in dry Autumn weather. The work party was very productive with all the planned work being progressed as follows:

  • North of the Longley Farm crossing, the wheel rut infill was topped up where necessary, with 2 tonnes of sub-base and dusted over with 3 tonnes of quarry dust. This was then compacted with the wacker plate. This work will further reduce the chance of bicyclist’s grounding their pedals and will make grass cutting easier and much safer. A small bund and offset was also installed to help drain water off the sides to protect against flood washout.
  • Following storm Amy on 3rd/4th of October and the subsequent tree works to clear the path, the brash left at the side of the path parts of the Logie section was processed into logs and wood chip, and removed from the cuttings.

Additional Works.

  • Blown storm debris was removed from the concrete drainage channel in the Belnain Wood Cutting.

Other Points to Note.

  • There is a small section of subbase infill north of Longley that still  needs to be blinded over with quarry dust to bind the sub-base and make the surface smooth.
  • The fencing at the new galvanised gate hinge post at Longley south needs to be fixed to the gate post
  • No accident or injuries were reported
